About Building Narrative: Building Narrative is an interdisciplinary architecture, design and research office. We delight in investigating the particularities of a project, and respond by narrating the stories that bind us to a given place, time and each other. The work spans varying scales from hotel interiors to furniture design with expertise in hospitality, residential and workplace design. Our work has been published by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Design Anthology, South China Morning Post and others.
Research activity includes material innovation and local design culture. Yueng Yeung; Hong Kong Tea and Coffee Houses was published in 2021. Ongoing research into public amenities in Hong Kong estate housing is supported by Design Trust and the Hong Kong Institute of Architects CPD Fund.
The studio is based in Hong Kong with representation in Guangzhou, China. Building Narrative was established by Jeffrey Cheng in 2018. Jeffrey was born in Toronto and is a graduate of the University of Waterloo School of Architecture, Canada. He is the recipient of the Ontario Association of Architects Guild Medal and has trained for ten years internationally with Atelier Zhanglei, REX Architects, Farrells and Buro Ole Scheeren.
